WWSO21 ABRF 080627 IDQ20015 Australian Bureau of Meteorology Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre SATELLITE ANALYSIS BULLETIN Issued at 0627 UTC on 8 APRIL 2026 Severe Tropical Cyclone Vaianu 080600 UTC Located near 23.3S 178.5E Analysis based on: animated visible and IR imagery Latitude Detection Sum: 8 Longitude Detection Sum: 21 Dvorak analysis: T3.0/3.5/W1.5/24HRS STT:W0.5/06HRS Intensity estimate 70 knots. Intensity estimate is higher than subjective Dvorak, and closer to objective aids. System is under strong vertical wind shear (CIMSS assessment at 0000 UTC 27 knots). Environmental conditions for tropical development will continue to degrade, with 11F travelling further south over cold waters, and the structure will become more asymetric. ATMS microwave at 0235 UTC highlights the asymetric structure, with the strongest convection all on the southern side. This is also evident in visible satellite imagery. Obtaining a DT is difficult shear pattern suggests less than 30nm from the T gradient and DT =3.0. MET is 3.5 with a W+ 24 hour trend, PT adjusted to 3.0. FT based on PT and is 3.0. CI is held at 3.5. The next bulletin will be available 090130 UTC.
