FPBA31 MYNN 081619 081619 MYNNYM BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST FOR THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT AND THE NEXT SIX (6) DAYS, ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY AT 12:00 P.M. EDT, FRIDAY, MAY 8, 2026. THE NEXT SCHEDULED FORECAST WILL BE ISSUED AT 6:00 P.M. EDT. WARNING IN EFFECT: There are currently no public warnings in effect at this time. For additional marine information, please view the Marine Forecast on our website, met.gov.bs .GENERAL SITUATION: Light to gentle winds, warmer temperatures and possible afternoon showers, will continue courtesy of a ridge of high pressure over the islands of The Bahamas this afternoon into tonight. Outlook: A heat dome across The Bahamas will bring hot, humid and sweltering conditions through early next week. Gentle winds coupled with high humidity will make temperatures feel even hotter, therefore the public is urged to stay hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activities. A break in these conditions may occur with a late season cold front, forecast to move into the Northern Bahamas by Tuesday (Election Day). This feature could produce showers and possible thunderstorms, allowing a bit of a cool down in temperatures for the Northern and Northwestern islands. Elsewhere, seasonably higher temperatures will persist into midweek. SPECIAL WEATHER NOTES: Heat and UV Index: The public is advised to remain hydrated, wear protective clothing and sunscreen and seek shaded areas while outside during peak sunshine hours (11am – 3pm), as UV indices are expected to be in the high to extreme range, and heat indices reach into the upper 90’s into the triple digits.
